TRAKS and Majilis Al Jin
Majilis Al Jin is the second largest
cave in the world, to give you an idea
of how big it is, you could fit 10 747's
in there. More importantly, for all you
thrill seekers out there, it's over 150
meter free standing abseil!

One word comes to mind when talking
about Majilis Al FUN, rope,
bring a lot of it.

Always a nice bunch to see when you go
there is the kids who live literally on
top of the cave.

This one found a great use for a spent
spool of 200m of Beal static rope. He
was dancing around with his new toy for
half an hour. Luckily we had 3 of these
spools so everybody got one. No
Playstation for these Omani's

Coming out the cave.

Clean rigging and good Beal rope - two
key ingredients to keeping things safe.
Anything else is just cheap and asking
for trouble.

Chemical anchor bolts are a safer bet
for the kind of limestone found in the
region. Note the Hilti drill bit that
melted and fused (!!) with the rock
- Excalibur style: it will be waiting for Merlin or Hilti
engineers during their next trip to MAJ!
Whichever one comes first...

Dummy waving for the camera when he
should be focusing on his ascend! No
worries the overhang above will wake
him up.

Everybody's favorite overhang.

Fins the village where you go from sea
level to the Salamah Plateau - 1300m up
in 4km horizontal distance.
