• Petzl STOP - AED 375 - Self-braking descender for single rope. Self-braking system operates when the handle is released. The rate of descent is controlled by varying the grip on the free end of the rope. Rope climbing is possible without changing the position of the STOP by adding a foot loop and a handled rope clamp / grab. Spring clip allows the rope to be inserted without removing the STOP from the harness. Replaceable cam and friction bobbin.

• Petzl I'D - Call us for pricing - Self-braking descender belay device with anti-panic function, can be used for descending a rope and for belaying. Anti-error safety catch to reduce the risk of an accident due to incorrect installation of the device on the rope. Anti-panic function: if the user pulls too hard on the handle, the cam will lock on the rope. Locking position on the handle for positioning while on the rope. When used for hauling, allows the system to be reversible. Available in 2 versions:

  • D20 S for work on ropes: for ropes between 10 and 11,5 mm in diameter.

Ascenders

Ergonomic spring-loaded catch designed to facilitate installation/removal of rope when the device is in place on chest. Spring-loaded catch can be locked in the open position so the rope clamp can be put on or taken off the rope with one hand. The attachment hole is oriented so the device lies flat against the chest when clipped in. For use with the SECUR should straps, which hold the rope clamp in position

Rope Clamps - Fall Arrest

• Petzl ASAP - Call us for pricing - Mobile fall arrester for rope. For use on a safety rope. Stops a fall, slide or uncontrolled descent. Locks even if the device is grabbed during a fall. Works on vertical or angled rope. Moves along the rope without manual intervention (downwards and upwards). Easy to install and remove at any point on the rope. Weighs 427g with carabiner (supplied).

• Petzl Shunt - AED 215 - Back-up device / ascender. A mechanical replacement for self-jamming knots (Prusik, Machard, etc.). When positioned below the descender, the SHUNT can be used as a back-up device to protect a descent on rappel. Brakes when device is released. weighs 188g

• Petzl Rescucender - AED 435 - Rope clamp / grab. Intended for moving on fixed ropes (as a back-up belay), for hauling heavy loads, and as a progress capture device in hauling systems. Slides easily up the rope and jams when the cam is loaded. Slides easily downwards if the cam is prevented from engaging. If overloaded or subjected to an impact force, the rope may slip through the device. Locking pin gives greater safety: disconnection from the rope requires two separate actions. Carabiners

Carabiners generally come made of two different materials: steel or alloy. The gate mechanism can  either be a simple screwgate or a dual action, twistlock or triple action, Triact. Most European rope access accepted principles call for a carabiner to be made of steel. North American standards are now switching to self locking biners, personal ones can still be alloy. Strength is determined through comprehensive testing to obtain the MBS (Mean Breaking Strength).
